#Poetry ‘From My Heart’ by Fiza Pathan

From my heart

Something tells that you are not going to come back,

Yet I can’t stop your memory from hurting while I’m losing track.

I am whiling away my days not understanding the truth,

My memories of you & me together are bearing no fruit.

Therefore now I want to start it all again,

But to tell you the truth I don’t know from where to begin.

You were the apple of my eye & the prince of my life,

But we were separated that day to stop our parents in strife.

But now I’m pining for you while you are not returning to me,

So let me scatter your love letters & let it go with the breeze.

But what about this aching heart of mine that yearns for you?

But what about this bleeding heart of mine that loves so true?

So before I tear your letters I must put out the flame,

I must realize that it is over – nothing will ever be the same.

But this heart of mine only wishes to remember you,

It sees no sense but only waits thinking you will come back soon.

I can’t wring its neck for the organ is my life & world,

It just wants to hear from you a loving little word.

From my heart issues blood so red that it stains the fading of love,

From my heart issues your memory that goes racing above.

It is racing towards heaven to tell the gods of our tragedy,

From my heart will love go to narrate the song of catastrophe.

Will you remember me dearest after I die?

I can’t hear your answer as I place myself in the coffin to lie.

From my heart will a cry come forth to your ears,

The organ will be punctured with a thousand spears.

For my heart cannot forget you though you are never coming back,

Letters I will burn but the words will remind me of what I lack.

From my heart will come a song of the nightingale to sing again,

From my heart will come a song of the dove to sing of love – yet once again!
