Jilted Lover

By Fiza Pathan

This jilted love gives me strength, to stab my emotions with the aid of this pen.

Lost love is my destiny, and it’s the only quicksand that I can sink my adoration into.

This broken love will not leave me lover of mine.

As you light up your world, I’ll burn as your forgotten flame.

I cannot erase your footprints upon my heart, and I cannot forget your promises.

They will taunt me in my sleep every night, as I crush my feelings into my palms.

This is the passion of the insane one, and the torture of the moaning wind.

This acid will corrode my soul, and the ashes I will present to you in a box, along with a withered red rose.

This false deceiving love story shall never see an end-I’ll bring it to life in labour pains every moment, every day.

For if, I should ever forget what curses you have pierced into my sides, that will mean that I have been reincarnated into a new pang of loves amorous pains.

So cross the flames with caution for I am heated with devotion, to our crumbled building of ruined affection.
